Local Honored for Veterans Work

Melissa Negrin-Wiener helps veterans get care at home or at assisted living facilities.

A Smithtown resident was recognized by Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy and Town of Huntington Supervisor Frank Petrone for pro bono work to help more than 150 veterans get the Aid and Attendance benefit.

Melissa Negrin-Wiener of the Melville-based elder law and estate-planning firm Genser Dubow Genser & Cona, received two proclamations for her work with veterans. The Aid and Attendance benefit allows veterans and their spouses to get care at their own home or at an assisted living facility.

Negrin-Wiener was also honored in November for a program she coordinated at The Bristal, an assisted living facility in Westbury, where she brought information to veterans and their spouses that focused on ex-service member’s needs and benefits.
