Nearly 2,000 Locals Without Power by Monday Morning

There are 10,482 outages in Suffolk County as of 11:30 a.m.

While Hurricane Sandy hasn't hit with its full wrath as of Monday morning, nearly 2,000 customers in Smithtown are already without power. 

As of 11:30 a.m., LIPA has reported 1,986 homes are in the dark.

Specifically in Smithtown, St. James, Nesconset, Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch and Nissequogue, there are 1,790 outages. Here is a breakdown of what areas are missing power:

  • Smithtown – 1,384
  • St. James – 398
  • Nesconset – 8
  • Head of the Harbor – 0
  • Nissequogue – 0

Throughout Suffolk County there are already 10,482 outages.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
