Stony Brook Hospital's First Newborn of 2013 a 'Miracle' Baby for Brentwood Family

For Sara Estrada and Carlos Yanes of Brentwood, their baby girl's arrival on Tuesday wasn't the hardest part of the pregnancy. It was their frequent worry over complications. Estrada had an emergency cerclage at Stony Brook University Hospital when she was 20 weeks pregnant with their first child, their now three-year-old son Jesse. With her history of miscarriage in mind, Estrada's doctor recommended another one during this pregnancy as a preventative measure. But on Tuesday, Estrada gave birth to Carla Sarai Estrada-Yanes without any complications. Carla Sarai Estrada-Yanes arrived at 1:40 a.m. weighing in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces – the first baby born at Stony Brook in 2013.
