Power Being Restored to Smithtown

Less than a 300 residents are without power as of 5 p.m. Thursday.

Severe weather overnight on Wedsnday knocked out power to much of Long Island, including Smithtown, Nesconset and St. James. However, most Long Island Power Authority customers had their electricity back Thursday afternoon.

LIPA reported that 466 in the Town of Smithtown as of 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

  • Smithtown – 153
  • St. James – 76
  • Nesconset – 5
  • Nissequogue – 5
  • Head of the Harbor – 48

There are 3,704 customers without power in Suffolk County as of 5 p.m. Thursday, with 7,995 customers still in the dark on Long Island.

The National Weather Service reported gusts of 60 mph, which had the possibility of bringing down tree limbs or whole trees.
