Reported Gas Leak at Nursing Facility is 'All Clear'

After a patient reported an odor of gas early Tuesday morning at Mills Pond Nursing Facility, National Grid, employee, reports the facility is safe.

A report of a gas leak at the Mills Pond Nursing Facility on Moriches Road early Tuesday morning resulted in no injuries and "all is clear," according to an official with the facility.

National Grid confirmed that it responded to reports of a gas leak at the facility early Tuesday morning, though a spokewoman reported that following an on-site investigation, no leak, nor odor, was found on the premesis.

An employee with Mills Pond, administrative assistant Linda McDermott, said a patient in one of the facility's rooms reported an odor of gas from his or her room. The smell, McDermott said, was isolated to that room. However she said Tuesday morning that "the smell is no longer there."

St. James Fire Department was reportedy called to the scene, however fire officials could not imediately confirm.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!

THE BOE DOES NOT GET PAID
