Smithtown's Power Outages Drop

Thousands of homes have had power restored since Wednesday morning.

Power ouages are starting to decrease in the Town of Smithtown.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, there are 50,025 homes without power. That is more than 1,000 less than there were at 6 a.m. when 51,403 homes were in the dark.

Specifically in Smithtown, St. James, Nesconset, Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch and Nissequogue, there are 33,214 outages. At 6 a.m. there were 34,595 outages.

Here is a breakdown of what areas are missing power:

  • Smithtown – 18,365
  • St. James – 6,876
  • Nesconset – 3,197
  • Village of the Branch – 2,252
  • Head of the Harbor – 1,453
  • Nissequogue – 1,071

The outages in Suffolk County have also dropped to 386,033 at 4 p.m. from the 409,662 outages at 6 a.m.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
