Week in Review: Nesconset Elementary Closing Recommended

LA Fitness comes to town while The Barn could leave and more in top headlines this past week.

Plans for a winery at  continue to be on hold in lieu of a liquor license, according to owner Steve Gallagher.

The Barn on Main Street will be closing Sunday indefinitely for renovations, but when the work is complete there is no guarantee the drive-through convenience store will reopen.

The former home to  on Main Street will soon be filled by LA Fitness.

The Citizens Advisory Committee on Thursday night officially targeted closing  School as one of five recommendations to save the  money.

The Citizens Advisory Committee will present its final report to the  board of education Thursday – the culmination 19 meetings that yielded a report that could seal the fate of Nesconset Elementary.

There's nothing monstrous happening at St. James-based Frank-N-Burger anymore. The movie monster themed burger joint shut its doors in January, leaving an empty storefront at the spot once well-known for its large hot dogs and unusual burger toppings including ham, pineapple and "sweet" sauce.

Renovations at the Smithtown and Kings Parkbranches of the Smithtown Special Library District are expected to be completed some time at the end of April.

While elected officials are various levels of government agree that a lack of sewers in Smithtown has been an ongoing battle for businesses, they say things are happening behind the scenes to fix the problem.
