Week in Review: Pedestrian Dies on Jericho Turnpike

A Kings Park man was struck by an SUV and killed Wednesday night crossing West Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown.

An unofficial vote by the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Smithtown Central School District resulted in a decision to close Nesconset Elementary and eliminate the Princeton Plan, a plan to group students in schools by grade and not by neighborhood.

St. James Lumber and the property it sits on are up for sale, first posted on the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island website on Nov. 5. According to William Garthe of Reliance Mortgage & Real Estate, the property and business is up for sale for $1,800,000, but could be sold to someone interested in using the land for something other than a lumberyard.

Butera’s Restaurant is seeing its price adjustments “slowly catching on” over the past two months since they’ve been implemented, according to general manager Patrick Mieli.
