Paving on Route 347 between Route 454 and Route 111 resumed Nov. 16, resulting in single-lane traffic, according to the New York State Department of Transportation. The DOT expected paving to be finished by Nov. 30.

Residents Approve Sound Walls for Route 347 Stretch

The votes are in and counted. Hauppauge and Smithtown residents want sound wall barriers built along Route 347 as the highway expands to six lanes.

Route 347 to be Closed Nightly Starting Sept. 30

New York State Department of Transportation says Route 347/Nesconset Highway will be completely closed starting Sept. 30 between Route 454/Veterans Highway and Route 111/Wheeler Road in Hauppauge on Sunday to Thursday nights. The closures will last approximately six weeks, weather permitting.

Route 347 Sound Wall Presentation Online for Residents

Area residents can educate themselves about the potential impact installing a sound wall would have on Route 347 and its surrounding communities. New York State Department of Transportation has uploaded its Community Sound Wall Presentation online to the Route 347 project page where residents can watch the presentation offered Sept. 6 from their own homes.

Residents to Cast Votes on Potential Sound Walls Along Route 347

Hauppauge and Smithtown homeowners have been given the opportunity to educate themselves on the Route 347 greenway project before casting their votes on its future construction.
