I received services here a few years ago. Honestly the entire thing just feels like a scam. The "treatment" you receive is minimal at best. After about a month of trying to convince me that going to a sober house would be beneficial, I agreed. I was promised rides to meetings, laundry access, 3 meals a day, and a safe place to get help with my addiction. What I got was a house of horrors. The owner was never around, except when he took the house manager and assistant mgr to the grocery store. We were given ceral at breakfast and than dinner. Dinner mostly consisted of pasta or beans and ricd. This is bc that'd more or less the only thing they bought. I understand it costs a lot to feed a house full of people, but considering the owner takes roughly 400 a month in food stamps from 17 different people, there should be more to eat than pasta or rice and beans. The refrigerator and pantry are locked with a padlock, as is the deep freezer. My guess is the owner is spending as little as possible and than keeping the rest to fill his refrigerator. People should be able to spend foodstamp money on food to feed themselves, not a sober house owner. The house manager was a joke. He smoked crack in his bedroom, stole from residents, and he would intentionally harass residents he didnt like until they had enough, and than he called the police and had them arrested for threatening to assult him. The house had a large van to transport residents to treatment, aa and na meetings, and so forth. The entire time I was there I was never once driven to meetings. In fact the house mgr used it for his personal vehicle. There was no access to laundry, meetings or anything else I was promised. Almost everyone living there was getting drunk or high or bothm When I brought all of these issues up to a counselor at ears, I was told there was nothing they were going to do. If I wanted to go to meetings than I had to figure of out, if I wanted regular meals I needed to go to the soup kitchen. I imagine the owners of ears were and probably still are getting a kick back for people they get into these houses owned by them selves or the Haitian fellow who owned the house I was at. I received nothing I was promised other than a bed to sleep in. Fortunately once the house mgr and asst mgr left it got a little better. I was able to find work, save money and get out of that hell hole. Since then I found a real treatment facility that provided me a sober house that helped me with my addiction. Avoid ears at all cost. Your not going to recieve any help and your just going to waste your time. Believe me when I tell you I'm not the only one that feels this way
