Community Corner

Spring Farm Festival

On Sunday, June 8th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Smithtown Historical Society will be hosting an annual Spring Farm Festival, a fun-filled day in the fields & farmhouse celebrating life on the farm! The event allows community members to emerge themselves in colonial farm life for a day, while having fun with their family visiting farm animals, playing games, and visiting interactive educational stations.

At the heart of the festival, is a sheep to shawl; a centuries’ old process still used today demonstrating the process of how,  from start to finish, cloth was made. The day will present sheep herding, colonial & modern style shearing, fleece hand washing, carding, spinning, & weaving all on the society’s beautiful historic grounds. New to this year’s event will be the Islip Horseman’s Association and the LIAPA (Long Island Antique Power Association) Tractor Display. The tractor display highlights the antique tractors for the public to view.

Attendees will learn about the agricultural past of Smithtown with hands-on interactive stations. There will also be children’s games & activities, live folk music, and an artisan’s market!POSTS
