Friends Fore Smithtown Community's Golf Outing Takes Place Monday

This year's charitable outing to benefit the Smithtown's Children Foundation.

Dust off those clubs and brush up your game of golf for this Monday's outing.

Friends for Smithtown Community's 6th annual Golf Outing will take place this Monday, Sept 23, at the Hamlet Golf & Country Club in Commack. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast, shotgun start at 11 a.m.

This year's annual golf outing will benefit the Smithtown Children's Foundation, a non-profit organization formed and inspired by Branch Brook Elementary School student Kaylee Rivers who was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma in 2008. The foundation now helps other Smithtown area children and families in need.

Bobby Hazen, owner of Saf-T-Swim, will be recognized as the 2013 honoree. After owning and successfully running several Saf-T-Swims in Smithtown and other locations, Hazen founded the LI Drowning Prevention Task Force in 2010.

"So far this year, LIDPTF, Saf-T-Swim and Kids Swim has reached over 12,500 children," according to Friends Fore Smithtown Community. "Join us as we show Bobby that we appreciate all of his efforts on behalf of the foundation and a grateful community."

Friends Fore Smithtown Community will also present the 4th annual Kaylee Rivers Courage Award, given to an individual who has overcome their own obstacles while showing themselves to be selfless and worth of the honor. This year's recipient is a surprise.

Cost of attending this year's golf outing is $300 per individual golfer, $1,200 for a foursome and $90 for the cocktail reception and open bar. There will be a Chinese/silent auction featuring sports memorabilia and equipment at the reception.
