NEW YEAR, NEW YOU...Try a new hairstyle to refresh your look this year!

 It’s the beginning of 2013, and with the start of a new year comes the feelings of a fresh start, a new beginning, and hopes to improve yourself inside and out. We all see and hear the phrase “New Year, New You” repeatedly around this time, and many of us turn to the appealing idea of a new hairstyle. A new haircut, color, or style can have miraculous powers of improving our self-confidence and overall mood. But, if you’re like me, and are completely indecisive (especially when it comes to a change in your hairstyle), you need a little help!

So I asked my good friends at The TRU Salon, in St. James, for some expert beauty advice on the hottest hair trends for 2013. Owners, Cheryl and Brian Duignan, filled me in on the looks everyone will be showcasing this year!

RAZOR CUT LAYERS

With this short cut, the traditional square bob gets edgy! The ends are rounder in the front, like Amanda Seyfried’s style in the film In Time. Use a little TRU Jet Foam, run through from roots to ends, then blowout!

UNDONE WAVES

This “opposite wave” look can be achieved with TRU Beach Spray. Spritz the spray throughout hair, then curl sections starting from mid-length down and let the hair around the crown fall. Keep it simple.

PASTEL COLOR

Go for the bold look, like Kelly Osbourne’s lavender locks, or tone it down and try some colored tips or sporadic streaks, like Demi Lovato and Katy Perry.

NATURAL LOOKS

A lot of natural looks are in style, like brown shiny ponytails and plaits for evening looks. TRU products like Memory Mist, Volume Mist, and Dry Shampoo will do the trick.
