Crime Report: Possession of Burglary Tools

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Suffolk County Police Department reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during Dec. 7 - 13.

Jennifer Vincent, 24, of Oakdale was arrested Dec. 13 in St. James and charged with drug possession. Reports state Vincent was pulled over on North Country Road and found to be in possession of marijuana.

Anthony Cook, 25, of Hauppauge was arrested Dec. 13 in Nesconset and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state he was driving a 2005 Kia on Old Nichols Road at 2:20 a.m. when he was stopped by police, who determined him to be under the influence of alcohol.

Daniel Hunter, 20, of Coram was arrested Dec. 13 in Nesconset and charged with possession of burglary tools. Hunter was arrested on South Hillside Avenue with a backpack containing a flashlight, screwdriver, boxcutter and gloves.

Shafa Nadir, 22, of Dix Hills was arrested Dec. 12 in Smithtown and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. Nadir is accused of driving without a license on Veterans Memorial Highway.

Michael Richards, 21, who has no known address was arrested Dec. 12 in Smithtown and charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault and unlawful possession of marijuana. Richards and another man are accused of stealing cash from apartment 1F at 666 Veterans Highway in Hauppauge. Reports indicate the two men threatened a person with a handgun, and that Richards restrained the person while they were burned with a hot knife. The person was taken to the hospital.

David Smith, 21, of St. James was arrested Dec. 9 in St. James and charged with second degree obstructing governmental administration. Smith is accused of pointing a laser pointer at an airplane and police helicopter flying overhead. 

Stephen Toth, 56, of Smithtown was arrested Dec. 8 in Smithtown and charged with aggravated DWI. Reports state he was arrested at the intersection of Old Willets Path and Route 25A.

Michael Beltrani, 20, of Smithtown was arrested Dec. 8 at his home in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny. He is accused of stealing cash from a female victim's bank account using a forged check.

LaShanna Ward, 31, of Brentwood was arrested Dec. 7 in Smithtown and charged with third degree grand larceny. Ward is accused of stealing jewelry from a patient's home on Tyram Lane in Commack where she was working as a home health aid.

Shawn Allen, 20, of Bayshore, John Chiarella, 33, of Nesconset, John Kurczewski, Jr., 24, of Nesconset and Michael Kurczewski, 22, of Nesconset were arrested Dec. 7 in Nesconset and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports state the men were seated in a 1996 Saturn on Brooks Avenue in which police found prescription pills.
