Crime Report: Double Barrel Shotgun Discharged

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during July 20-26.

A seventeen year old male, of Nesconset was arrested July 25 in Smithtown and charged with making graffiti. Reports state the youth allegedly made graffiti at 335 Nesconset Hwy. at approximately 12 p.m.

Neil Plati, 20, of Smithtown was arrested July 25 in Smithtown and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana. Reports state Plati was arrested for the alleged possession of marijuana in the rear driver’s side seat of a vehicle. The incident occurred on West Main Street.

Craig Sanders, 40, of Smithtown was arrested July 24 in Smithtown and charged with second degree aggravated harassment. Repors sate Sanders was arrested for the allegedly making threatening phone calls to a female at approximately 3 p.m.

Kate Johnson, 69, of Smithtown was arrested July 24 in Smithtown and charged first degree operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. Reports state Johnson was arrested for the alleged operation of a 2009 Volkswagon while impaired by drugs. The incident occurred eastbound on Edgewood Avenue, at approximately 12:35 p.m.

Rashon Cooper, 32, of Amityville was arrested July 24 in Smithtown and charged with second degree aggravated harassment. Reports state Cooper was arrested for allegedly making threatening phone calls to another person.

Matthew Cassata, 23, of Smithtown was arrested July 23 in Smithtown and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports state Cassata was arrested for the alleged possession of a controlled substance on Landing Avenue, and East Main Street at approximately 12:40 a.m.

Kyle Morovinksky, 33, of Smithtown was arrested July 23 in Smithtown and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports indicate Morovinksky was arrested for the alleged possession of marijuana on Landing Avenue, and E. Main Street at approximately 12:40 a.m.

A seventeen year old male, of Smithtown was arrested July 22 in Smithtown and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana. Reports state the youth was arrested for the alleged possession of marijuana on E. Main Street at approximately 8 p.m.

Jeffrey Usher, 47, of Port Jefferson was arrested July 22 in Smithtown and charged with third degree grand larceny. Reports state Usher was arrested for the allegedly theft of jewelry from a safe in a residence. Reports indicate the theft occurred over an unknown period of time.

Victor Vitale, 59, of Kings Park was arrested July 20 in Smithtown and charged with prohibited use of a weapon. Reports indicate Vitale was arrested for alleged discharged of a double gage barrel shotgun with people nearby. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Old Nortport Road.
