Crime Report: Forgery Charges and a Bad Tempered Customer

A blotter of the latest arrests and incidents in the Fourth Precinct.

Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during Dec. 17—24:   

Margaret McVey, 46, of Archbald was arrested Dec. 21 in Smithtown and charged with 2nd degree forgery.  Reports state McVey forged a prescription dated Feb. 12 and attempted to fill it using someone else's insurance. 

Steven Schworer, 36, of Smithtown was arrested Dec. 20 in Smithtown and charged with 2nd degree harassment.

Amy Merkle, 26, of Farmingville was arrested Dec. 22 in Smithtown and charged with 2nd degree criminal contempt. 

Robert Tiedemann, 48, of Centereach was arrested Dec. 17 in Smithtown and charged with assault.  Reports state Tiedemann got into an argument with another customer at 3000 Route 25 in Lake Grove and pushed a shopping cart breaking the plaintiff's leg and spraining the plaintiff's ankle.

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed above. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  If any of the above charges have been acquitted, in order for removal from publication, one must write the writer and provide proof of dismissal.
