Crimes Nearby: Suspended Driver Caught With Illegal Gun, Cops Say

SETAUKET

Suffolk police responded to a road rage incident at 2 p.m. on March 3 in which a man traveling west on Route 347 got into an altercation with another driver over the fact that the other driver wouldn't let him merge into the lane safely. The two men got out of their cars during the confrontation but no injuries were reported.

PORT JEFFERSON

Police responded to a report of two people fighting on the platform of the Port Jefferson Long Island Rail Road station on March 1 at 5:50 p.m. One person was taken to St. Charles Hospital for treatment; the other was taken to Mather Hospital for treatment. No arrests were made.

HAUPPAUGE

Suffolk County Police arrested a South Carolina man in Islandia last Thursday for allegedly being in possession of an illegal handgun.

According to police, Freddie Foggie Jr., 40, of Boiling Springs, SC, was pulled over at the park-and-ride at exit 58 on the Long Island Expressway at 5:50 p.m. after an officer noticed equipment violations on a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck with a trailer transporting three cars. When pulled over, the officer conducted a safety inspection and found a 9mm gun with a loaded high-capacity magazine.

Foggie, who police said was driving with a suspended license, was arrested on charges including aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

HUNTINGTON

Randy Green, 59, from Huntington was arrested in Huntington for second degree menacing with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon after he allegedly began swinging a sword and stuck it through an open car window to threaten someone.

Timothy Boyle, 43, was arrested in Huntington Station and charged with criminal mischief, intent to damage property and second degree harassment after he allegedly spit in someone's face and threw a brick through the driver's side window of a car.

Jacqueline Zimmerman, 23, from Huntington was arrested in Huntington and charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell after she was allegedly found with heroin packaged in a way that would facilitate sale.

Jon Piccola, 28, from Huntington was arrested in Huntington and charged with DWAI combined drugs and alcohol after he allegedly hit a street sign and two mail boxes before his car rolled over.

William Thide, 52, from East Northport was arrested in East Northport and charged with third degree trespassing on an enclosed property and resisting arrest after he allegedly cut off a tractor trailer on the LIE, risking serious injury to the tractor trailer driver.
