Nesconset Man Arrested for Alleged Mortgage Fraud

Steven J. Bonocore, 51, forged signatures to obtain a line of credit.

New York State police have arrested a Nesconset man for allegedly forging signatures to obtain a line of credit worth $73,000. 

Steven J. Bonocore, 51, was arrested Monday and charged him with one felony count of second-degree residential mortgage fraud, one felony count of first-degree falsifying business records, and one felony count of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. 

Police said Bonocore submitted documents with forged signatures to Wells Fargo obtain a Line of Credit worth $73,000. The line of credit was put against a piece of property he owns with his estranged wife. 

The Wells Fargo application was submitted by Bonocore without his wife's knowledge, who notified police, according to reports. State police have since begun an investigation. 

Bonocore was arrested by police when he appeared in Onondaga County Supreme Court in Syracuse for a divorce hearing. He has since been transported back to Suffolk County for arraignment.
