Nesconset Man Pleas Not Guilty To Fatal Hit-and-Run

Craig Williams remains free on bail from charges related to September 2012 crash on Nesconset Highway.

A Nesconset man pled not guilty on Thursday in a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian walking along Route 347 and leaving the scene in September 2012.

Newsday reports that Craig Williams, 38, is free on $25,000 bail after pleading not guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of the accident in the Sept. 29 crash that killed Thomas Wik Jr., 23, of Nesconset. Williams' drivers license has been revoked by the courts.

Joanne Wik, mother of Thomas Wik, said she was upset with police who did not make Williams give a breath test or take a blood sample to find out if he was driving impaired after the accident.

Her husband, Thomas Wik, said it "pays to know somebody" pointing out William's father works as an investigator in the county district attorney's office. As such, attorney Stephen Scaring of Garden City has been appointed special prosecutor in this case.

On Sept 29, 2012, Thomas Wik Jr. was walking eastbound on Nesconset Highway at 4:45 a.m. when he was hit by a 2006 Honda driven by Craig Williams, 38, of Nesconset, police said. Williams reportedly left the scene of the crash, and was arrested at his home after reporting the accident to police 45 minutes later.

Was there ever a determination for the accident in St. James on the same day involving the garbage truck? Were either of the drivers drunk?

This guy Craig Williams and his family are a real piece of work. First he kills a kid and leaves the scene to cover up being intoxicated. Then he get's off because of his dad... literally away with murder, Then he pleads not guilty to a joke of a charge, then he has his friends and family go around trash talking the VICTIM. Then they run around making fake accounts on websites attacking and threatening anyone who says anything against him. Acting as his own personal PR. One of the most vulgar and astonishing thing's I've ever seen in my life. This is corruption, this is a cover up. This was manslaughter. People are starting to get really fed up. Jackie Schorr Field: "Tom, I am so sorry you are so ignorant! Which by the way means lacking knowledge and awareness, in general. If by leave someone to possibly die, you mean, drove home after something struck his car as he drove the heavily constructed area, filled with barrells, temporary walls, and no lights, driving home seeing his car and immedaitly calling 911, you would be correct. And if by poor soul, you mean, man who was drunk, stumbling home down 347 in the early morning hours iin the constuction zone, then you would be correct. Yes that just happened!" Who say's something like this!? I see how this works, you kill a kid and then you try to silence anyone who has anything to say about it. You're entire family looks like trash.
