Residents Safe After Early Morning Kitchen Fire

Smithtown firefighters on the scene to contain the electrical fire on Ramondo Lane.

No one was injured in a kitchen fire that broke out at 10 Ramondo Lane early Saturday morning.

The Smithtown Fire Department was alerted at 3:51 a.m. and responded immediately.

"The fire was electrical and started above a light fixture in the kitchen and spread to the attic," said Jeff Bressler, Smithtown firefighter and chief information officer.  "The residents evacuated the home, the roof was ventilated and the fire was quickly suppressed with the primary hose line."

The cause of the fire is under investigation and has not been determined at this time.

Smithtown firefighters were aided by both the Kings Park Fire Department and Hauppauge Fire Department, who provided additional manpower, equipment and engine standby.
