PHOTO: Smithtown's Fire Commissioner Sworn In
Thomas Duckham is serving his first five-year term.
The new Fire Commissioner for the Smithtown Fire Department has officially been sworn in.
With Smithtown Town Councilman Edward Wehrheim and members of the Smithtown Fire Department present, Thomas Duckham was sworn in Jan. 4 at Smithtown's town hall by Smithtown's Town Clerk Vincent Puleo. Also joining the new commissioner was his father, William.
Duckham defeated incumbent Joseph Gardella by a margin of 25 votes; Duckham received 252 votes to Gardella's 227.
