Three Drunk Drivers Pulled Off Smithtown Streets

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Melanie Everitt, 21, of Sound Beach, was arrested on Sept. 28 and faces one misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated - first offense.  Police said Everitt was driving west on Route 454/Veterans Highway in Smithtown when she was seen swerving in and out of her lane. 

Thomas Lombardo, 24, of St. James, was arrested on Sept. 29 and faces one misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated - first offense. Lombardo was driving a 2008 Honda Accord east on Main Street in Smithtown near the Route 111 intersection, according to police, when he was seen swerving in and out of his lane. 

Peter Higgins, 24, of Smithtown was arrested on Sept. 25 in Kings Park and faces one felony charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police said Higgins sold jewelry reported stolen after a burglary to Suffolk Jewelry Traders for more than $1,000 cash. 

Peter Bruno, 32, of St. James was arrested on Sept. 24 and charged with one felony count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth-degree. Bruno used a stolen Chase credit card to make multiple purchases on Feb. 16, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m, according to police, and was arrested after full investigation. The overall total of the purchases was not released by police. 

Kristen Marquardt, 52, of Smithtown, was arrested on Sept. 24 and charged with one misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated - first offense. Police said Marquardt was driving a 2002 gray Honda SUV along Route 25A/Main Street in Kings Park when she hit a 2012 Chevy Ford sedan. Marquardt appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, according to police reports. 

Raymond Reschke, 51, of Smithtown, was arrested on Sept. 24 and charged with one felony count of fourth-degree grand larceny. Police said at roughly 1 p.m. on Sept. 24 Reschke attempted to steal more than $1,000 in cash from another individual.
