VIDEO: Firefighters Remove People from Car in Garage After Crash

Smithtown firefighters first stabilized the garage, preventing it from collapsing, before removing the driver and passenger Monday afternoon.

Smithtown firefighters removed two people from a car that drove through the garage of a Smithtown home Monday afternoon, trapping the driver.

According to the Smithtown Fire Department, an unidentified man drove a silver Honda Civic with an unidentified woman passenger into the garage of the Brooksite Drive home at 3:22 p.m. The fire department said witnesses said the car was driving erratically down the street and made a left hand turn into the driveway, then into the garage.

The fire department chief and EMS workers said the garage could possibly collapse, and called in Commack Heavy Rescue and Hauppauge Technical Rescue for help to prevent it from collapsing.
