Ronkonkoma Woman Airlifted After Car Strikes Pole in Smithtown

Police said the 49-year-old woman struck a pole on Mt. Pleasant Road after losing control of her car.

A Ronkonkoma woman was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center on Sunday after striking a pole on Mt. Pleasant Road in Smithtown.

According to Suffolk County police, the 49-year-old woman was driving a 2001 Toyota Highlander at about 9 p.m. when she lost control of her car and hit a pole. No other cars were involved in the crash.

Patch readers reported that Mt. Pleasant Road was closed for several hours following the crash.

Police did not release the name of the injured woman. Her condition is not known.
