Varsity Basketball Playoff Runs Come to an End

All three teams from West and East in the playoffs fell Friday and Saturday.

The playoff runs of all three varsity basketball teams from Smithtown have come to an end.

West girls took on Half Hollow Hills East on Friday afternoon but came up short, losing by a score of 55-49. The girls wrapped up the season with a 9-8 record, 7-5 in League III play.

Half Hollow Hills East (11-8, 7-7) will take on Sachem East (17-1, 14-0) away at 5:45 p.m.

West boys didn't fare any better than the girls Friday as Commack (12-8, 7-7) dropped the Bulls (11-8, 8-4) in overtime by a score of 59-58.

Commack's luck came to an end in the next round as they fell to Half Hollow Hills West (16-3, 13-1) by a score of 56-50 on Saturday.

East boys took a first-round loss Friday to Lindenhurst, losing 63-53. The Bulls finished 12-7 overall, 8-4 in League III play. Lindenhurst (15-4 11-3) will be on the road to take on Half Hollow Hills West on Tuesday at noon.
