West Girls Lacrosse Helps Breast Cancer Charities Through Tournament

The high school athletes hit the field for "Lax for Hope," a tournament at the St. Johns University campus in Oakdale to benefit Long Island breast cancer charities.

Playing lacrosse to raise money for breast cancer charities does not sound traditional, but it is exactly what the West girls varsity lacrosse team did.

The team participated in “Lax for Hope,” a tournament held at the Oakdale campus of St. Johns University.

All proceeds from the tournament were donated to “Lax for Hope,” which benefits Long Island breast cancer charities. The girls on the team played to play in the tournament and the high school program also made a $100 donation.
