A Drift with “FRIENDS”

A Drift with “FRIENDS” Annual Canoe River Rally Benefit & BBQ Smithtown Historical Society is proud to be once again by on board with Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve for their annual Canoe River Rally Benefit Trip & BBQ. This is the second year the two groups have joined up to host the event that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 8th. The adventure begins with a leisurely morning paddle in a canoe or kayak along the beautiful Nissequogue River starting from Nissequogue River State Park. Upon meeting the shore at Paul T. Givens County Park, participants are bussed back to the launch site for an all you can eat barbecue catered by Main Street Meats, complete with live music by Norman Vincent and raffle prizes. The tax deductible donation per canoe is $125 which includes the BBQ for all in the canoe. Canoes seat either two (2) adults AND two (2) children) OR three (3) adults. Double & Single Kayaks are also available. If you prefer to bring your own boat, or simply want to join in for the barbecue only, that’s ok too! Whether you float in or walk in, the cost to attend the barbecue only is $35 per person. All River Rally and BBQ participants must be registered by Wednesday, June 5th. Children age 12 under get a free commemorative t-shirt. All Children must be accompanied by an adult. Check-in begins at 9am at Nissequogue River State Park for a 10am launch.
