Elvis's Birthday Party, Town Board Meeting this Week in Smithtown

Kindergarten Registration
Smithtown Central School District begins opening up kindergarten registrations in many of its elementary schools this week. 

Smithtown Town Board
The new Smithtown Town board will hold its first public meeting of 2014 at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall, 99 W. Main Street, Smithtown. Watch Patch for more details on what's on their agenda as information becomes available. 

Babysitting Skills
Smithtown Youth Bureau is offering a free six-week course on Babysitting Skills for teens in grades 7 - 10 on Tuesday nights Teens will learn an assortment of skills for babysitting and practice them on Real Care babies. First class is Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 5:30 pm. - 6:30 p.m. Registration is first-come, first-serve. 

Character Education
Smithtown Youth Bureau is offer a six-week series of Character Education classes for children enrolled in grades 3-5. Students will learn to develop skills and everyday tools to develop into the person they want to become focusing on the six pillars of character. The first class is Tuesday from 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. Registration is first-come, first-serve. 

Community Conversation
Smithtown Youth Bureau is hosting a Community Conversation on Wednesday at 6 p.m. as an opportunity for high school students to come together for thoughtful discussion and dialogue about their shared values as Americans past,present, and future. It will be held at the Smithtown Historical Society's Roseneath Cottage on Middle Country Road. Advance registration is required. 

Celebrate Elvis's Birthday
Join the Nesconset branch of the Smithtown Special Library District to celebrate the birthday of 'the King," Elvis Presley with an Elvis tribute show from 7 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Reserve your spot by contacting the library at 631-265-3994.

Smithtown-Sunrise Rotary
Join the Smithtown-Sunriser Rotary club on Thursday mornings at Smithtown's Millenium Diner. This week's featured speaker is Michael Gagliardi, a senior fire marshal. Meetings start at 7:45 a.m.
