Your guide to the major events happening in Smithtown this week: Jan. 13 - 17.

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration is underway for parents with children who will reach their 5th birthday on or before Dec. 1, 2014 for the 2014-15 school year. This week, registration will be held at the following schools from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on the days listed: 
  • Dogwood Elementary:  Jan. 13
  • Mills Pond Elementary:  Jan. 14 and 15
  • Mt. Pleasant Elementary:  Jan. 16 and 17

PTA Counsel 
Smithtown PTA Counsel will hold a public meeting 7:30 p.m. Monday at the New York Avenue administrative building. 

Smithtown Board of Education
Smithtown Central School District's Board of Education will host a public meeting 8 p.m. Tuesday at the New York Avenue Administrative building. Watch Patch this week for more information as to what's on their agenda. 

Board of Zoning Appeals
Town of Smithtown's Board of Zoning Appeals will meet at 7p.m. Tuesday at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center to hear requests for zoning variances, special exceptions and more. Watch Patch this week to learn more about what's on their agenda. 

Employment Open House
Developmental Disability Institute in Smithtown will be hosting an Employment Open House on Wednesday, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Immediate interviews with hirings for the following positions: direct care counselors, teacher assistants, assistant residential program managers and cook/housekeeper. 

Planning Board
Town of Smithtown's Planning Board will host a public hearings at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center. Watch Patch this week to learn more about what's on their agenda. 

Smithtown-Sunrise Rotary
Join the Smithtown-Sunrise Rotary for their weekly meeting at 7:45 a.m. Thursdays at the Millenium Diner. This week's guest speaker is Barry Laub, author of "The Mindstretcher" and president of Infinite Resources. 

Learn CPR and First Aid
The Smithtown Nursery School presents an educational workshop on CPR/First Aid this Thursday at 7 p.m. Upon course completion participants will receive a 2-Year American Heart Association Certification. Workshop is conducted by First Aid Depot.
