Istanbul Cafe II Serving Up Kebobs in St. James

Turkish and Mediterranean grill opened its doors in Saint James off Route 25A.

Smithtown and St. James residents can now get a taste of the Middle East close to home.

Istanbul Cafe II is serving up hot Turkish and Mediterranean food for customers at 412 North Country Road in St. James. The new restaurant celebrated a soft opening this past weekend.

A red "Grand Opening" sign is proudly strung up roadside in the parking lot while a chalkboard side outside the restaurant's door reads "Welcome to Istanbul Cafe."

Istanbul Cafe II offers a wide variety of food on its lunch and dinner menu: hot and cold appetizers featuring, beef, chicken and falafel dishes, sandwiches, wraps and more. Customers can choose to dine-in or take-out, although a paper take-out menu was not yet available on Wednesday.

For those who wish to enjoy the fall weather, Istanbul has a few tables set up for outdoor dining.

Istanbul Cafe II takes over the storefront formerly occupied by FeelGoods Cafe, well-known for its "EdgyBurgers" line, which closed on April 1. The healthy foods cafe closed due to losses stemming from Hurricane Sandy and slower-than-expected business over the winter left owners with no other option.
