JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — Honeymoons & Centuries (2 poems)

Wherein JWG and René have happily lived a Life as One for decades.

93. Honeymoons

Honeymoons,
Dreamed about and planned by many People,
Are seldom attained.

Honeymooners thrive
When they are together all day and night.
When they’re apart, they are lost.

The partnering decision
May be complex and full of ups and downs
Which interferes with the Honeymoon.

How many People are truly glad

To spend ev’ry single moment of Life
Connected to another Human Being?

How many People can say
That the opportunity did arise
To spend 24/7 with Love?

I know two People
Who recognized that they had a good chance
Of Living a Life as One.

And, they do.
However, they’re told they can’t be married.
Isn’t that a shame?

94. Centuries

Centuries
Have brought about good change for The People
After much debate.

This new Century
Is debating whether or not I am
Worthy of falling in Love.

I was taught this Country was
Created out of Tolerance and Love
For the Individual Person.

At the start, slavery was condoned.
The Emancipation Proclamation
Ended this only after a Civil War.

The Twentieth Century
Had debates on Suffrage and Civil Rights.
Many hated sharing their “power”.

Hate is Ignorance.
Religions may not accept Gay Marriage.
That is their singular right.

I have Rights
As an Individual Personage
Fighting for Freedom.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
