JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — Perception & Lethargy (2 poems)

Wherein JWG recharges from positive thinking.

41. Perception

Perception
Of Life’s phases changes as one ages.
This is natural.

We are born clueless
Unlike baby Chicks who eat by themselves.
We depend on caregivers.

Chicks need heat for survival.
We do, too. We also need protection.
Goodness, we have a lot in common.

We are all animals in this World.
Requiring guidance in environments
That may differ, but, provide the essentials.

Find out what's happening in Smithtownwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

As Humans, we like to think.
We ponder, plan, and make many mistakes.
Fortunately, we can right the wrongs.

Strength in numbers helps;
Yet, hinders the living situation.
We are our own enemy.

As Life ends,
And if we’re able to look at decades,
We discern Youth’s goals.

42. Lethargy

Lethargy
Is taking a nap when work should be done.
Eyes close to escape.

Watching clouds drift by.
Not being entertained by their patterns.
Not caring what happens next.

One’s brain is completely drained.
Words on paper are merely shapes and blots.
Sounds are just noises masking silence.

Neglecting responsibility
Is the essence of annihilation
When moroseness reverberates in one’s soul.

The deep well of loneliness
Has dried up and can’t sustain apathy
For a bit of Life on this planet.

Recharging one’s will
May be slow requiring help from simple
Acts of positive thinking.

Zoning out
To the ends of one’s mental universe
Exploring the emptiness.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
