28. Powerful

Powerful
Pills stop teeny-tiny bacteria
From ruling my Life.

Who knew that some drugs
Would actually be good for my health?
Without them, I would be dead.

Powerful liquids destroy
The cognizance of which we can be proud.
This is a fact I know all too well.

Fortunately, I was protected
From succumbing to a drunken stupor
By the guiding determination of Love.

It’s too bad love’s not a drug.
With love, we could make a powerful bomb
That would permeate this whole planet.

Powerful armies
Are needed for protection from villains
Who have no respect for Life.

Life is strong.
It is uncertainty that makes us weak.
We have the power.

29. Collecting

Collecting
Is the ultimate in scavenger hunts
Which is personal.

The treasure we find
May not be worth much monetarily.
It’s the eureka moment.

When a birder spots a bird,
Memory always recalls the event
Placed in one’s own mental library.

A gardener grows plants that differ
To experiment with texture and hue
Creating a living, glorious bouquet.

Imagination renders
An array of differing exhibits
Which fill many quirky galleries.

Each household acquires
Inanimate things that would qualify
For a collection.

Junk is stuff
That nobody wants except collectors
Who cherish it all.
