JWG's Necessity May 6 & 7, 2012

Wherein JWG and René, head toward their first Anniversary with more Friends.

This upcoming week will be important. One thing is that René and I are travelling, on the day we leave this country for Wales, when North Carolina votes on a Proposition involving my rights as a Citizen. If this passes, I fear doom for the next couple of elections. Or, just a small perhaps, Citizens in other States will be outraged enough that it may, in the long run, help. With political elections, one never, ever can tell. The electorate, a fickle bunch, can be fearful, hateful, and, in a few cases, kind. This year is no exception. It will be brutal. A Civil War is occurring, yet, no one seems to see it as such. Votes can be bullets struck at one’s heart — my Heart. If it weren’t for my Friends, I would up and leave.

Last night, with Tom and Jack, René had a superb time chatting about living “out and proud”. We are, indeed, here. We have always been here. The electorate is just now beginning to recognize our presence. The four of us reiterated how all the hooplah is unnecessary.

In twenty-four hours, René and I will once again be whisked to JFK Airport to board a jet. We will go to Wales — landing in Manchester, England, via Iceland. Iceland! This World becomes smaller and smaller.

This afternoon, looking at our gardens, with the Alliums beginning to open, I realize that in two weeks, when we return, the Roses will be blooming. June will, indeed, be “busting out all over”. Pretty soon, René and I will be celebrating a major Anniversary — our first as a married couple. Life is certainly full of firsts. Realizing, and remembering to note, each First is helpful.

Wedding anniversaries are noted as important. Are they? If one thinks of living, then, yes. René and I have certainly done, and endured, much during this first year. Yet, is it more than other years in our history? I would have to say, no. Yet, again, we have met many more Friends. That fact, in itself, is worth remembering. New smiles in our lives are welcome additions to our happiness. And, today, I heard from quite a few people wishing us well on our trip to Wales. They, too, are, and have been, important. They know us. We know them — and like — and love them. And, in Wales, we will bond with more Friends. Bonding is banding our Happiness.
