Purity Spa Prepares to Open Friday in St. James

Smithtown and St. James residents looking for a bit of pampering will find there's a new spa opening in time for the stressful holiday season. 

St. James resident Kerri Wilson will celebrate the grand opening of Purity Spa in St. James Galleria on Friday, Nov. 15. It is located at 556 North Country Road in St. James. 

Plans Approved for New 7-Eleven on Gibbs Pond Road

A Bay Shore developer has gotten approval to raze a local eyesore to construct a new 7-Eleven on Gibbs Pond Road. 

Smithtown Town Board voted to unanimously approve site plans to construct a 7-Eleven in Nesconset, on the northwest corner of Gibbs Pond Road and Smithtown Boulevard intersection. 

Former T. Carlton Hair Designer Opens St. James Salon

A former T. Carlton master hair designer has moved across town to St. James where she's opened her own salon. 

Lauren Moyer recently opened up LM Studio for Hair Color & Design in St. James Galleria, located at 556 North Country Road. Moyer is a former T. Carlton employee of 11 years where she served as an artistic director. 

Kitchen A Trattoria Bought By Longtime Chef

A popular St. James restaurant will undergo a change of ownership as it shifts hands from its creator to longtime chef.

Kitchen A Trattoria, located at 532 North Country Road in St. James, is being purchased by chef Steven Gallagher from enterprising restaurateur Eric Lomando in a deal whose fine details are still being worked out. 

State Ed Commish Slammed in Common Core Forum

A crowd of 1,200 people filled the auditorium of Ward Melville High School for a two-hour long event that harshly criticized the Common Core curriculum, its implementation and high stakes testing among other things.

Standing ovations and rounds of applause were given to many of the night’s speakers who blasted state Education Commissioner John B. King Jr. on recent education mandates.
